Using Layers

Overview:
Layers turn-on or off features depending on the zoom level. When the full state of Montana is displayed in the map viewer, the only feature layers that are available are city points (PNT), highways, and counties, the other layers are "grayed-out" or unavailable. By "zooming-in" additional times, more features become available. Additionally, selecting the Zoom tool and selecting a small area will make other layers available.

Visible and Active:
Check boxes are available by each feature to make the layer visible. Click in the check box next to the layer of interest to make that layer visible. To make that layer the active layer (for queries, identification, etc.), use the radio button next to the layer. Note: Only one layer can be the active layer.

Adding Layers:
Clicking on the "Add Layers" button opens a new window that presents additional layers for Basemap Data, Land Designation, Oil & Gas, Water, and Powder River Basin specific data. Click on the "plus" sign to open the folder and select by clicking on the features desired. Clicking on the "Update" link at the bottom, closes the window and addes the selected layers to the Layers Menu.

Powder River Data:
The Powder River Basin (PRB) is the focus of this project for the implentation of Best Management Practices. The layers are created from various data sources to provide the user with resources to analysis a study area within the PRB. Please click the titles for a detailed description of data.

Click "Refresh Map" button to display any changes made to the layers.
